About the Artist

Judy Harris Fine Art
I have always loved creating art since I was a child. I graduated with honors with a degree in Art Education from James Madison University in 1978 and begin my career teaching in public school systems in Virginia, and working as a professional artist.
I work in both impressionistic styles and multi-media abstract styles. In my impressionistic style I like to use enthusiastic brushwork to capture the effects of light on natural forms, and on figures responding to nature. I like to tell a story using this style.
In my multi-media, more abstract work, I like to use the language of color and texture, and a more intuitive use of the elements and principals of design. I add in my handmade papers and use this style to create entertaining pieces of art.
I exhibit in galleries and juried art shows both locally and regionally and have received honors and awards for my work.
I continue to teach art in local galleries and love sharing my joy in creating art with others.
